Do you need affordable medical care?
California funds many public programs to help people get the healthcare they need, and you may be eligible for one of them, even if you work or own your home. (Note: state budget cuts enacted in Feb. and July 2009 may increase wait times or reduce availability of some health insurance programs.)
If you cannot get any kind of health insurance, you may be able to find a community clinic, dental clinic or hospital that will provide the care you need at no cost or low cost.
There are also a few private charities in California that provide no-cost or low-cost health care to people.
Health IOU project partners work at the local, state and national levels to ensure that all Californians have health care they can count on. To learn more about our efforts to win quality, affordable health care for all, visit Public Policy.
While we work for quality, affordable health care for all, we also work for consumer protection laws like California's Hospital Fair Pricing Act, which limits the amount hospitals can collect from self-pay (e.g., uninsured and underinsured) patients.
